International pupils need a school that is approved to enrol them, and the immigration documents depend on the child’s nationality and existing residence status, so not every foreign child needs the same pass. The Immigration Department publishes Student Pass information. ↗

School schedules identify 6% Service Tax on qualifying charges. Obtain an itemised invoice showing taxable items, any exemption and whether published figures already include tax. A school’s broad price band does not determine the tax treatment of every payment. ↗

Alice Smith is a British school founded in 1946 and owned by a parent association. Its 2025–26 schedule lists RM17,910–39,120 per term across three terms, or RM53,730–117,360 annually before applicable tax. It also lists a RM15,000 enrolment fee and refundable deposit of RM15,000–24,000. Garden International School publishes 2026–27 standard tuition of RM52,440 for Nursery, RM62,340 for Reception, RM118,170 for Years 7–8 and RM126,870 for Years 10–13. Its higher secondary EAL programme rates replace standard tuition rather than being added to it. Published sources also list The International School @ ParkCity at RM25,800–87,000 in 2026–27; other directories give different tuition and registration figures. ISKL has secondary-listed 2026–27 tuition reaching RM143,400 for Grades 9–12. The cited admissions terms charge RM59,000 for registration from Prep Senior, separately from tuition. Mont’Kiara International is another option, with secondary reporting listing tuition up to RM130,540 at the top grade. These are examples, not a price ranking.

Alice Smith teaches a British pathway, with primary at Jalan Bellamy and secondary at Equine Park in Seri Kembangan. ISKL offers American, IB and AP options on its Ampang Hilir campus. Other options include Mont’Kiara International, The International School @ ParkCity in Desa ParkCity, BSKL in Bandar Utama and Australian International School Malaysia in Seri Kembangan. St Joseph’s Institution International, Nexus, Taylor’s International and IGB International add further choices. Each campus has its own curriculum, year groups and fee scale.

For any school, ask about the teachers assigned to the relevant phase, staff turnover, class sizes and support. Teaching qualifications and experience are more useful questions than an expatriate-teacher ratio. Visit lessons where possible and discuss how the school supports pupils entering from another curriculum.

Marlborough College Malaysia is in Iskandar Puteri, Johor, rather than Kuala Lumpur. Its cited 2026–27 full-boarding price for Years 12–13 is RM259,800 before applicable tax. A KL-based family would need to consider boarding or relocation, while a Singapore-based family would also need to assess border travel. Epsom College in Malaysia is in Bandar Enstek, Negeri Sembilan. Its 2026–27 schedule lists full-boarding tuition of RM105,690–116,610 a year for Years 7–13, plus boarding of RM62,700 a year. Day tuition runs from RM52,920 in EYFS to RM116,610 in Year 12. Boarders who stay in college over exeats or holidays pay RM200 a night. ↗ ↗

Compare day, weekly and full boarding using the family’s actual home and work locations. Include journeys home, holiday accommodation where needed and the boarding house’s closure dates. Neither school’s location should be treated as interchangeable with a Kuala Lumpur campus.

Make the trip to the actual campus before signing a lease. A school that works academically may still involve a difficult daily trip. Use the expected pickup and drop-off times, including the return after activities, when comparing housing.

Areas to explore include Mont’Kiara/Sri Hartamas around GIS and Mont’Kiara International, Desa ParkCity for ISP, and Ampang Hilir for ISKL. Alice Smith’s primary is at Jalan Bellamy in central Kuala Lumpur; it should not be labelled as a campus in Bangsar or Damansara. Its secondary is in Seri Kembangan.

Bus routes, pickup times and after-school transport differ by school. Families using both Alice Smith campuses, or GIS’s Early Years Centre and main campus, should plan both journeys. A school’s transport service may not cover every prospective home.

Application calendars vary by school. Enquire while planning the move and give the year group, start date and support needs. Ask whether mid-year entry is possible and how course content would be matched, especially during IGCSE, A-level or IB programmes.

Assessment and English requirements differ by school and age. ISKL’s cited policy sets a minimum English standard from Grade 3, while Alice Smith and GIS describe assessment and support arrangements in their profiles. Alice Smith’s 2025–26 EAL charge is RM4,500 per term; GIS’s secondary EAL fees are total programme tuition. Obtain the child’s proposed provision and complete cost in writing.
