What the school is

A non-profit with a six-decade track record

ISKL describes tuition and registration fees as providing almost all its revenue, which is reinvested in the school under its non-profit model. A secondary analysis estimates that approximately 70% of revenue supports recruiting and retaining educators. Treat that as a reported budget estimate, not a measure of teaching quality.

The school’s history explains its shape. Founded in 1965 with 48 students, it split across Ampang and Melawati campuses for 27 years before reuniting in August 2018 on a 25.7-acre purpose-built campus in Ampang Hilir — with a 650-seat theatre, competition swimming facilities and a regulation track; its outdoor athletic field later earned FIFA and World Rugby certification.

ISKL lists WASC and CIS accreditation, with separate authorisation for the IB Diploma. Reported faculty figures describe 75% holding a master’s or terminal degree and more than 85% having at least nine years of experience. These are school-wide snapshots; ask about the team teaching the relevant programme and current staff turnover.

IB, AP and high-school course choices

ISKL has offered the IB Diploma since 1989. High-school students can pursue the full Diploma or consider a combination of IB, AP and high-school diploma courses through the Pursuits Program. Discuss prerequisites, available combinations and the qualifications required by prospective universities with the school counsellor. An American curriculum does not make one route automatically preferable for US admission.

The cited results summaries cover different cohorts. The Class of 2021 recorded a 98% IB pass rate, a 37.1 average, ten scores of 45 and 36.8% scoring at least 40. A later report describes 106 IB candidates, a 100% pass rate and an average of 35, but its year needs confirmation. Reported 2025 AP figures give 101 candidates, an average score of 4.1 and 83% scoring 4 or 5; ask whether that percentage refers to examination entries or candidates.

Life-Centered Education serves pupils with more significant intellectual, learning or developmental differences. The school’s 2026–27 fee page lists an additional RM49,400 a year for the service, plus 6% SST where applicable; obtain an individual assessment of provision. Other reported opportunities include IASAS activities, the Global Action Program and Middle School Malaysia Week.

Admissions and cost

The RM59,000 registration fee, explained

The admissions information lists a one-time, non-refundable and non-transferable Student Registration Fee of RM59,000 for new entrants from Prep Senior through Grade 12. Prep Reception and Prep Junior entrants do not pay it immediately; the cited terms charge it when a Prep Junior pupil progresses to Prep Senior. The listed 2026–27 application fee is RM1,800.

The secondary 2026–27 listing gives annual tuition of RM70,200 for Prep Reception, RM93,100 for Prep Junior, RM115,600 for Prep Senior–Grade 5, RM130,600 for Grades 6–8 and RM143,400 for Grades 9–12. The older official 2024–25 schedule used semester billing, with 55% due by 1 July and the balance, after a credited enrolment deposit, by 1 December. Do not assume those dates still apply or add a credited deposit to tuition again. The school notes 6% SST on applicable charges with possible exemptions; obtain an itemised quote. Secondary analyses report no sibling discount, which should also be checked for the entry year.

The cited admissions policy sets no minimum English proficiency for Prep Reception through Grade 2. Applicants to Grades 3–12 must meet a minimum standard. Ask how the school assesses proficiency at the child’s age and what support is available after admission. Meeting a language requirement is separate from establishing that the proposed support is suitable.
