School history and Taylor’s ownership

GIS has been in Mont’Kiara since 1996. Nursery and reception children attend a separate Early Years Centre about a kilometre away, so families with siblings should check both journeys.

GIS belongs to Taylor’s Education Group. Other group schools include Australian International School Malaysia, Nexus in Putrajaya and Singapore, and Taylor’s International School. The group also operates Taylor’s University and Taylor’s College. Governance runs through a Board of Governors with group-level oversight by the President of Taylor’s Schools. This is a for-profit structure, unlike Alice Smith’s parent association or ISKL’s non-profit model.

The school reports more than 2,000 pupils and approximately 200 activities. Its prospectus gives an estimated enrolment split of 35% Malaysian and 65% expatriate pupils; these figures are a snapshot rather than a current admissions forecast.

Academics and accreditation

Accreditation, subjects and results

The prospectus describes CIS and WASC accreditation, alongside FOBISIA and EARCOS membership and founding membership of the Association of International Malaysian Schools. Accreditation and association membership are distinct. GIS also operates as a Cambridge International and Edexcel examination centre; its reported examination history dates to University of London GCE provision in 1966.

The reported examination programme uses Cambridge and selected Edexcel subjects, including GCSE PE and A-level Mathematics, Drama and Psychology. The cited 2026 catalogue profiles GIS pupils receiving Cambridge Learner Awards, including Top in Malaysia and Top in the World. Individual awards do not describe the results of the entire cohort; obtain the current subject list and full results alongside them.

Admissions and cost

2026–27 tuition, EAL and tax

GIS’s 2026–27 annual tuition is billed across three terms. Nursery is RM52,440 and Reception RM62,340. Listed primary examples are RM85,590 for Year 1, RM97,830 for Years 3–4 and RM102,300 for Years 5–6. Secondary is RM118,170 for Years 7–8, RM122,310 for Year 9 and RM126,870 for Years 10–13. The official fee page lists one-time charges of an RM1,590 application fee (including 6% Service Tax) and a non-refundable registration fee of RM10,000 for Nursery/Reception entrants or RM20,000 for Years 1–13, plus a refundable deposit set by year group.

The 2026–27 schedule lists separate EAL-programme tuition of RM135,900 annually for Years 7–8 and RM140,670 for Year 9. These are programme tuition totals, not amounts to add on top of standard tuition. They exceed the corresponding standard rates by RM17,730 and RM18,360. Obtain the assessment outcome, applicable fee and criteria for moving out of the programme in writing.

The cited fee analysis describes 6% Service Tax on qualifying private-school charges. Do not add it indiscriminately to every quoted amount: request an itemised invoice showing which charges are taxable, whether quoted rates already include tax and whether any exemption applies to your child.

Secondary guides describe waiting lists and suggest applying ahead of a move. Places are allocated by year group, so give admissions the child’s year group, start date and support needs early.

Two campuses and school life

The main campus is in Mont’Kiara, with Nursery and Reception at the separate Early Years Centre. Families using both sites should check pickup times, bus routes and arrangements after activities before choosing housing. Test the journey at the expected school-run time; proximity on a map does not account for traffic or access to the campus.
