What the school is

The Toronto relationship and school structure

The Toronto relationship began with a Cooperative Venture Agreement signed in 2009. Published sources describe a Grade 9 exchange in which Toronto pupils study on Jeju, and membership of the Branksome Hall Alumnae Association for BHA graduates. The Highland Boys Middle School opened in August 2023 for Grades 6–7, with an additional grade planned each year. A secondary source records boys entering through Grade 9 in 2025–26. The school’s “diamond model” describes co-educational junior years, separate middle schools and a return to mixed senior classes. Which senior grades are mixed in 2026–27, and whether boys can board, are questions to put to admissions before applying.

Published sources document IB programme authorisation, CIS and WASC credentials, and TABS boarding-school membership. These serve different purposes; membership alone is not an inspection. The school received ISC Research’s International School of the Year award in 2021. A directory reports roughly 1,200 pupils, 16% international enrolment, 25% boarding and an average class size of 20. Treat these as approximate directory figures and ask about your child’s grade.

Jeju Global Education City schools have admissions arrangements that differ from mainland foreign schools, including access for Korean-national pupils. Academics in practice

Dated results and university offers

The results give IB Diploma averages of 36 in 2022, 36 in 2023 and 35 in 2024. The 2023 report says all successful candidates earned a bilingual diploma. For the 70-member Class of 2024, the school reports a 100% pass rate, 97% bilingual diplomas and US$4.1 million in scholarship offers. These figures describe specific cohorts. Older brand coverage also quotes offers from highly ranked universities.

The school reports that its 72 graduates in 2026 received offers from 151 institutions across 12 countries. Named institutions include Pennsylvania, Columbia, Cornell, Cambridge, Imperial College London, Toronto, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Waseda. One graduate can receive several offers, so offer counts are higher than the number of places taken up.

A one-point change in the average between cohorts is small; candidate counts, pass rates and results distributions over several years give a fuller picture. A bilingual diploma records an academic language achievement, not every pupil’s first language or the language used among friends. Ask about classroom and boarding-house language use and support for new arrivals.

Admissions and cost

Applications, 2026–27 fees and scholarships

A boarding-school directory lists a December 15 priority deadline, rolling admissions and an approximate 50% acceptance rate. Opening-era reporting described SSAT testing and interviews for Grades 6–10 and school assessments for younger pupils. Ask for the current assessment format, available dates and remote arrangements for overseas applicants.

Annual tuition for 2026–27 has two payable portions: JK Prep–Grade 5 costs KRW 21,762,000 plus US$14,148; Grades 6–10 cost KRW 24,496,000 plus US$15,722; Grade 11 costs KRW 25,080,000 plus US$17,294; and Grade 12 costs KRW 26,640,000 plus US$17,294. The KRW 3 million non-refundable seat deposit is credited against the first tuition payment, so do not add it again to annual tuition. The schedule excludes transport, uniforms, meals, trips and optional activities from tuition.

The 2026–27 boarding charge for Grades 6–12 is KRW 21,520,000 for full-time boarding or KRW 17,192,000 for the five-day option. For Grade 12, tuition plus full-time boarding totals KRW 48,160,000 plus US$17,294; five-day boarding gives KRW 43,832,000 plus US$17,294. These are subtotals, before other applicable charges. The fee page lists meals, including boarders’ meals, among the costs tuition does not cover, so request an itemised quotation.

A Study International feature describes International Merit Scholarships covering 30% of tuition and 30% of boarding for non-Korean pupils new to Middle or Senior School. Boarding life

Boarding groups, facilities and weekends

The boarding programme describes small “families” of about ten pupils, supported by Teacher Dons and student mentors, with Heads of House living on campus. Facilities include bedrooms, communal lounges and kitchens, a pool, an ice rink and a golf driving range. The school also describes supervised airport transfers around school breaks.

Five-day boarding requires a workable plan for weekends. If home is on the mainland, include airport transfers, check-in time, an accompanying adult where needed and arrangements for disrupted flights, and the number of pupils who stay for weekends shapes the supervision and activities on offer. The family experience

Location, community and the daily reality

The roughly 90,350-square-metre campus is at 234 Global edu-ro in Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo, in southwest Jeju. It is part of the Global Education City school area. Families considering a move should test journeys to the campus, shops, services and airport rather than rely on a fixed travel estimate. Compare current housing options and transport arrangements with the needs of the whole household.
