What the school is

Campus, governance and the Jeju connection

The campus combines historic buildings with sports, arts and learning facilities. These include the Athletics and Wellness Centre and outdoor space used for learning. A visit can help your child see how pupils use these facilities during a normal school week.

Branksome Hall Asia opened on Jeju Island, South Korea, in 2012. The schools have a sister-school relationship and exchange opportunities. Families considering a later move between them should confirm admission, curriculum and boarding arrangements separately; the relationship does not guarantee a transfer place.

The school is not-for-profit and lists several educational and professional affiliations. Membership of a boarding or girls’ school association should not be described as accreditation. When reviewing school credentials, distinguish an organisation’s membership requirements from its inspection or accreditation process.

Academics in practice

The IB Diploma and IB Select

In Grades 11–12, pupils can follow the full IB Diploma or Branksome Hall’s IB Select pathway. Successful full-Diploma pupils receive the Ontario Secondary School Diploma and IB Diploma. IB Select pupils receive the Ontario diploma and a record of their completed IB courses; IB Select does not award the full IB Diploma.

IB Select allows more flexibility in subject combinations and levels, while retaining core elements such as Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Discuss course choices with the school and prospective universities before deciding which pathway supports your child’s plans.

Noodle is the school’s business accelerator, where pupils develop ideas with support from mentors. The published fee schedule lists no additional charge for the programme. Ask which year groups can participate and how it fits around academic commitments.

Admissions and cost

Day fees, boarding costs and entry requirements

For 2026–27, day tuition is CAD 45,140 through Grade 10 and CAD 49,210 in Grades 11–12. Boarding tuition is CAD 86,640 for Grades 7–10 and CAD 90,710 for Grades 11–12. New pupils pay CAD 9,500 registration, reduced to CAD 6,500 if a sister is already enrolled.

Additional charges depend on age and activities. Examples include CAD 300 for activities, CAD 600–1,200 for Grades 7–12 field trips, and optional international travel of CAD 3,000–10,000. Boarders also face a CAD 900 activity charge, international medical insurance from CAD 800 and guardianship charges where required.

Middle and senior day-school applications for the coming cycle close December 1, 2026, with decisions scheduled for February 26, 2027. Grade 8 entry depends on places becoming available. Grade 7 applicants present a portfolio; Grades 9–11 use school assessments or SSAT results, with different test deadlines by grade.

For day entry, the published school-test dates are January 15, 2027 for Grade 9 and December 10, 2026 for Grades 10–11. SSAT deadlines also differ: January 22 for Grade 9 and December 31 for Grades 10–11, and the application checklist varies by year group.

Boarding applications are considered on a rolling basis, with applications encouraged by December 1, 2026. All boarding applicants complete an interview and assessment; requirements include an introduction video and teacher recommendations. Follow the boarding checklist rather than assuming the day-school timetable applies.

Compare Branksome with the public and independent options available to your family; public-school eligibility and programme admissions follow their own rules. The features to evaluate here are a girls’ school environment, IB teaching from the primary years and boarding, not the level of fees.

Boarding may allow your child to remain in Toronto while your work takes you elsewhere. The quoted boarding tuition is not an all-inclusive budget. Discuss guardianship, medical cover, school holidays, weekend leave and contact with parents before accepting a place.
