What the school is

Two campuses and Harker Hall

St. George’s was founded in 1930 by Captain F.J. Danby-Hunter. The school’s Junior and Senior campuses are on West 29th Avenue. Families with children in different year groups should check where each pupil attends and how drop-off and collection work.

Boarders live in Harker Hall and attend school alongside day pupils. Families living overseas should discuss how the school communicates concerns and who can act locally when a parent is unavailable.

The boys’ school environment is worth discussing on a visit, including what happens when a pupil struggles to find an activity or friendship group that suits him.

BC courses, AP and Grade 10 cohorts

St. George’s offers the BC graduation programme with AP subjects in the senior years. AP allows pupils to take individual advanced courses, each with its own prerequisites and timetable constraints. A family expecting another international move should ask the likely receiving school how it will recognise completed courses.

Grade 10 pupils can join a cohort with a focus such as STEM, outdoor education or performing arts. They share many classes with a small group over the year. The fee schedule lists CAD 5,000 for cohort programmes, so discuss both the learning experience and additional cost before choosing one.

The Senior School describes individual university counselling, group guidance and support for other post-school plans. University offers and places actually attended are different measures, and destination lists mean more with the cohort year and size attached. The useful comparison is with your son’s proposed subjects and goals.

Admissions and cost

Fees, residency and application dates

For 2026–27, BC-resident day tuition is CAD 37,300 in Junior School and CAD 37,400 in Senior School; international day tuition is CAD 54,900. Boarding is CAD 77,700 for the Canadian category, CAD 88,800 for American, Mexican or non-resident Canadian pupils, and CAD 105,200 for the international category. New pupils also pay a CAD 7,500 entrance levy.

The school defines BC-resident day fees using parental domicile and citizenship, permanent residence or a work permit exceeding one year. Its evidence requirements also refer to the absence of ties to a former home for 24 consecutive months. Ask admissions how these criteria apply to your arrival date and documents. This is the school’s own fee policy, separate from other schools’ and public boards’ rules.

Tuition does not cover every expense. Uniforms, outdoor education, AP examinations, lunch and some activities are additional; boarders may also have insurance and holiday-programme costs. Obtain a quote for the services your child will use, including any required charges.

For the current cycle leading to 2027 entry, day applications for Kindergarten, Grade 4 and Grades 6–11 close October 30, 2026. Grades 1–3 and Grade 5 close January 29, 2027 and depend on limited availability. The day-admission page lists CAD 50 through October 15, then CAD 100 until the main deadline, with CAD 350 late applications accepted for specified grades when space permits. Its dates supersede the older application-fee wording on the 2026–27 tuition page.

Testing varies by grade. Shortlisted Grade 4 applicants take an in-house academic assessment; shortlisted Grades 6–8 applicants take the Middle-Level SSAT. All Grades 9–11 applicants must submit SSAT results before December 31, 2026. Interviews and group assessments also form part of the process. The page retains a January 2026 Kindergarten assessment date within the newer cycle; confirm that date directly.

Boarding review is prioritised from September to December, continues through January and February, then operates on remaining space. The current guidance recommends testing before December 1, 2026 for priority review or February 1, 2027 for standard review. Older test dates remain on the same page, so confirm your checklist. Boarding intake is listed for Grades 8–11; Grade 12 is not a regular entry point. Preference is given to applicants living at least 30 km away.

Needs-based aid is available in Grades 4–12 for eligible BC-resident day pupils and all boarding fee categories; international day pupils cannot apply. Awards are reviewed annually. Published deadlines for new applicants are December 1, 2026 for day and February 1, 2027 for boarding. Historical award averages and the school’s estimator are indications, not promises. Apply alongside admission if you will need assistance.

For boarding, the weekend and closure calendar, care during short holidays, permission to leave campus, and guardianship and healthcare arrangements all need settling before accepting a place.
