What the school is

Campus and outdoor learning

Mulgrave has developed its campus since its founding in 1993, including the Allard Family Senior School addition in 2015. Families can tour the teaching, arts, sports and shared spaces to see how their child’s year group uses them.

Outdoor learning includes overnight camps from Grade 3, with the school’s Squamish Outdoor Leadership and Education Centre among the locations. Tuition and consolidated fees cover grade camps; optional trips can incur separate charges.

Mulgrave’s university profile explains that it does not calculate GPA or rank pupils. For an older applicant, ask how counsellors present school grades and qualifications to the universities your child is considering.

IB programmes and British Columbia graduation

The IB Primary Years Programme runs from preschool through Grade 5, the Middle Years Programme through Grades 6–10, and the Diploma Programme in Grades 11–12. A pupil arriving from another curriculum should discuss subject placement and any gaps before choosing senior courses.

Mulgrave publishes a Class of 2026 results section on its Facts & Figures page. Review it with the university counselling team and ask for the cohort size, Diploma participation and results across several years. Published highlights should not be treated as a prediction for an individual pupil.

The BC Dogwood diploma and the IB Diploma are distinct qualifications. Ask how your child will meet each set of requirements and what options exist if the full Diploma is unsuitable. University subject prerequisites should guide the decision alongside the pupil’s interests and learning needs.

Admissions and cost

Tuition, deposits and joining charges

Mulgrave School tuition for 2026–27 is CAD 30,290 from Preschool (age 3) to Grade 5, CAD 33,370 in Grades 6–10 and CAD 34,180 in Grades 11–12. Consolidated charges vary by grade: CAD 690–1,300 through Grade 5, CAD 1,970 in Grade 6, CAD 2,170 in Grades 7–9, CAD 2,720 in Grade 10 and CAD 2,040 in Grades 11–12.

Each new family provides a CAD 25,000 interest-free loan to the school, refundable in the fall after its last child leaves. Separately, new pupils pay CAD 3,000 joining fees and a CAD 4,000 first tuition instalment on acceptance. The instalment is part of tuition, not an extra fee. Application charges are CAD 350 for Lower Mainland residents or CAD 450 otherwise.

K–12 pupils who do not qualify for the provincial grant pay an additional CAD 7,000. Grade 12 IB subject fees are approximately CAD 1,400 for six subjects and the core. Also budget for transport, uniforms, K–12 lunches and optional activities; a CAD 500 security deposit applies from Grade 3.

The main intake years are Preschool (ages 3 and 4), Kindergarten, Grade 7 and Grade 10; other grades usually depend on places becoming free. For 2027–28 entry, applications close December 1, 2026 for age-four preschool, Kindergarten and Grades 1–11. Age-three preschool applications close February 1, 2027. A new preschool Extended Day option costs an additional CAD 4,000 annually, with limited places. Base 2027–28 tuition is due to be finalised by the end of January 2027; the figures above apply to 2026–27.

New pupils entering Grades 7–11 can apply for partial or full tuition assistance based on financial need and the school’s admission assessment. The published deadline is January 29, 2027. A separate bursary scheme supports current families facing unforeseen financial difficulty, for up to three years. Discuss eligibility and what costs an award covers before relying on it.

The North Shore school journey

The West Vancouver location may be convenient for a North Shore household. From other parts of the region, test the actual morning and afternoon route before choosing a home. Include activity collection times and the effect of bridge traffic.

Younger pupils may need after-school care, while older pupils may have activities that finish after the regular bus leaves.
