What the school is

History and the girls’ school environment

The Gordon sisters founded Crofton House in their family home in 1898. The school became an educational trust in 1937 and moved to Kerrisdale in 1942. This history helps explain its traditions, but families should assess the school through its current teaching, support and daily routines.

Crofton House ended boarding in 1990 and now operates as a day school. Its emphasis on girl-centred education means pupils participate in an all-girls classroom and wider school community.

BC graduation requirements and AP courses

Crofton House’s enriched senior curriculum meets or exceeds British Columbia’s graduation requirements. Its academic handbook describes the Grade 8–12 courses and is updated annually. Use it to check AP subjects, prerequisites and timetable combinations for your daughter’s proposed entry year.

Tuition includes textbooks, school-day curriculum excursions, lunch, use of a school-issued device and the annual grade-wide outdoor excursion. It also covers AP examination fees for school-offered courses on the pupil’s timetable. Uniforms, some course materials, Outdoor Education 11 and optional activities can cost extra.

Ask for recent AP results and university destinations with the graduating year and cohort size. For a pupil moving from another curriculum, course recognition and graduation requirements are settled individually.

Admissions and cost

Fees and the 2027 admission cycle

Published 2026–27 tuition is CAD 35,300, including a CAD 3,000 non-refundable deposit. The CAD 5,000 entrance fee brings tuition and joining charges to CAD 40,300 before application fees and extras. The deposit is part of tuition, so it should not be added again. The current fee page says tuition and related enrolment fees increase by at least 4% annually.

A further CAD 5,000 Independent School Grant Fee applies if neither parent or guardian qualifies the pupil for the provincial grant; admissions sets the classification from residency and immigration documents. English+ carries a separate CAD 40,000 fee for its five-year programme, payable in the first year, plus a CAD 75 assessment fee.

The main entry years are JK, SK, Grade 6 and Grade 8. For 2027 entry, JK, SK and Grade 6 applications close November 20, 2026; Grade 8 closes November 1. Other grades close November 30 and depend on vacancies. The current application guide lists CAD 350 for main-intake applications, discounted to CAD 250 for Grade 6 and 8 applications through October 2; non-intake applications cost CAD 200.

Grade 8 applicants take the SSAT and an in-house assessment; older applicants take the SSAT. The school’s two admissions pages disagree on some supporting-document and non-intake SSAT deadlines. For Grade 8, Key Dates lists supporting documents by November 5, while How to Apply says November 27. For Grades 9–12, the SSAT dates also differ, so check with admissions before booking tests.

English+ is for new Grade 8 pupils whose first language is not English and who have some schooling in English. The programme supports academic English development; it is not a general beginner-English admission route. Financial assistance is separately available for Grade 8 entrants based on need and can cover up to 98% of attendance costs. That is a maximum, not a promised award. The published aid-application deadline is December 1, 2026.
