Governance, community and qualification options

An archived US State Department fact sheet describes a nine-member board: six directors elected for two-year terms by the Parent Association and three appointed by the US Ambassador. This documents an earlier governance arrangement; the current board’s composition may differ.

Reviewed profiles report around 570 students and more than 60 nationalities, with 629 students recorded in 2022–23. Class sizes of around twenty or fewer are also reported. LCS is a founding WAISAL member and belongs to AISA. The described Dr Dennis Larkin Scholarship covers tuition and fees for up to two Ghanaian IB Diploma entrants annually, subject to need and selection.

The school offers an American High School Diploma alongside its IB programmes. Senior students may pursue the full IB Diploma or individual IB courses, with separate requirements for each award. Ask how the proposed subject combination meets graduation and university-entry requirements, especially if transferring from another system.

Academics and accreditation

IB programmes and the 2024 accreditation cycle

The 2024–25 annual report records CIS and MSA re-accreditation and an IB re-evaluation. These concern external review and programme requirements; they are not a ranking against other Ghanaian schools. Reported facilities include an elementary building opened in 2022, science and technology laboratories, two libraries, a swimming pool and a visual and performing arts centre.

Admissions and cost

2026–27 fees and registration charges

The published 2026–27 annual tuition is US$16,985 for Pre-K, US$24,777 for Kindergarten, US$25,001 for Grades 1–5, US$26,678 for Grades 6–8, US$28,266 for Grades 9–10 and US$29,589 for Grades 11–12. Other listed charges are US$200 application, US$2,000 annual maintenance and US$500 annual reservation for returning students. Registration is US$10,000 for K–12 entrants; Pre-K entrants pay US$2,500, followed by US$7,500 on entering Kindergarten. A new Grade 1 student’s tuition, registration, maintenance and application subtotal is US$37,201, before transport, lunches and other extras.

The fee terms quote US dollars for foreign nationals and allow cedi payment at a Business Office rate based on the Bank of Ghana reference. First-semester fees are billed in June, and late payments attract 2% monthly interest. The published terms exclude refunds for temporary closure following a diplomatic mission’s evacuation of non-essential personnel or force majeure.

For cedi payments, the Business Office sets the conversion rate on a given date, so the amount needed in the family’s income currency can change even when dollar tuition stays the same. A historical interbank rate is not a school payment quote.
