What the school is

From UN school to embassy school to SPK

JIS operates as a non-profit school and states that fees support pupils and their learning. Its profile also records assistance from the US State Department’s Office of Overseas Schools. Neither status establishes admission priority for an individual family. Which Indonesian curriculum and documentation rules apply depends on the child’s nationality; older summaries of national examinations and exemptions may be out of date.

The High School Profile includes Indonesian Studies credits for non-Indonesian pupils. The school also runs the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika scholarship programme for Indonesian applicants, with published reporting describing entry in Grades 8–10. These programme details do not by themselves establish the current proportion of local pupils.

Senior courses, results and support

The high school uses a North American credit model leading to its diploma. Some AP options begin in Grade 10; senior pupils can explore the IB Diploma, AP courses and AP Capstone. The 2026 profile lists 36 IB and 28 AP courses, but families should confirm which combinations will run for their cohort. It also requires Creativity, Activity and Service across high school and limits pupils to ten university applications. AP Capstone is an additional credential, not a replacement for the school’s high-school diploma.

JIS is a founding member of IASAS, a regional athletics and activities conference. Its Learning Center provides more intensive support, with a separate fee category. The school’s 2026–27 schedule lists Learning Center tuition of IDR742,230,000 (elementary) or IDR820,692,000 (middle and high school) in place of standard tuition, giving annual totals of IDR842.8–921.3 million with the enrolment guarantee and capital fees; it is not a surcharge on top of standard tuition. An older guide’s 1:10 pupil-teacher ratio is not the same as current class size.

Admissions and cost

Admissions, recurring charges and EAL fees

The documented application process includes assessment of English, reading, writing and mathematics. The school’s 2026–27 schedule lists a non-refundable application fee of IDR5,543,800, compared with IDR5 million in the older 2025–26 schedule. General accounts of Jakarta waiting lists say little about a given grade at JIS.

The Enrolment Guarantee Fee is an annual non-refundable charge. The 2026–27 schedule lists IDR26,872,000 for payment by 2 April 2026 and IDR32,250,000 at the standard rate. The early deadline has passed. The charge reserves or reconfirms a place and is separate from tuition. The schedule states validity through 31 December 2026 and advertises bank instalment arrangements through CIMB and Mandiri; confirm eligibility, dates and any conditions directly.

The one-time EAL fee is IDR89,148,000 in the 2026–27 schedule, compared with IDR52,200,000 in a secondary reproduction of the 2025–26 schedule. The school’s policy says a pupil assessed as needing EAL must participate to remain enrolled, including when that need is identified after joining. Ask how assessments, programme placement, charges and exit criteria work for your child.

The school’s 2026–27 schedule gives annual totals for enrolment guarantee, tuition and capital charges of IDR304,863,000 for Early Years 1–2 half day, IDR392,643,000 for Early Years full day, IDR527,970,000 for Kindergarten, IDR551,483,000 for Grades 1–5, IDR627,654,000 for Grades 6–8 and IDR633,001,000 for Grades 9–12. The annual capital fee within those totals is IDR68,367,000. New pupils also pay a one-time technology fee of IDR6,953,000 (Grades 1–5) or IDR24,278,000 (Grades 6–12), and Lane 3 transfers from Greater Jakarta schools into Grade 10 or 11 pay a one-time surcharge of IDR294,345,000 or IDR307,890,100. Optional 2026–27 bus fees are IDR66,940,000 for chaperoned early-years/elementary transport and IDR61,880,000 for secondary if paid by 10 July 2026, rising to IDR69,500,000 and IDR64,500,000 afterwards.

The family experience

Three campuses, one commute calculation

Pattimura and Pondok Indah serve elementary pupils, while Cilandak serves Middle and High School. Families with children at multiple sites should check start times, bus routes, supervision and pickup after activities. Test the journey from the actual proposed home rather than rely on distance alone.

The school’s enrolment documents include Indonesian Ministry of Education requirements. Ask admissions which identity, residence and education documents apply to your family and whether it provides sponsorship or other assistance. Each child needs the right permit; a student or dependent permit is not always sufficient.
