What the school is

The five-part programme and two campuses

UWCSEA draws on the UWC movement and Kurt Hahn’s educational ideas. Its programme has five compulsory elements: academics, activities, outdoor education, personal and social education, and service, each of which takes time, travel and support at every grade.

UWCSEA’s scholarship programme brings students into the boarding community through UWC national committees.

Dover is at 1207 Dover Road in central-west Singapore; East opened in 2011 at 1 Tampines Street 73. Both share the college’s curriculum and fee structure. Families can apply to one or both campuses, with separate application prices. An older admissions Q&A prohibited campus transfers after accepting a place, so treat the campus choice as fixed unless admissions says otherwise.

Academics in practice

A curriculum of its own, then the IB Diploma

UWCSEA’s own Grade 9 and 10 Programme replaced IGCSE at both campuses from August 2025. It offers more than 40 subjects and options, including UWC Perspectives, social entrepreneurship and internships. Most students then take the IB Diploma in Grades 11–12. This is the college’s own programme before the Diploma years, not a full PYP–MYP–DP continuum. Families expecting to leave after Grade 9 or 10 should check transfer requirements with the receiving school.

UWCSEA developed Systems Transformation: Leadership for Change with the IB, with a pilot beginning in August 2024. For 2025, WhichSchoolAdvisor reports an IB average of 36.1 and a 98% pass rate at East, with about a quarter earning a bilingual Diploma. These results cover East only and should not be presented as combined results for both campuses.

The 2018–19 admissions Q&A states that there was no direct Grade 12 entry and describes a Grade 10 Foundation route. It also requires day students to live with a parent resident in Singapore and present for at least 90% of each term. These are older terms, and the Grade 9–10 programme has since changed; boarding has separate arrangements.

Admissions and the cycle

Annual application windows and offer rounds

Applications open each September for entry the following August. The cycle opened in September 2026 covers August 2027 and limited January 2028 places. Eligible applicants enter a pool; applying first does not guarantee an earlier offer. January places depend on withdrawals during the first term.

For this cycle, the first-round application deadline is 2 November 2026, with offers in January 2027. Second-round deadlines are 8 January 2027 for boarding and 1 February 2027 for day applicants, with offers in March. Nominee and support-related applications have separate considerations. High-school applicants may be invited to a Virtual Immersion Programme; language and learning-support assessments depend on the applicant.

The college states that applicants requiring learning support usually do not receive first-round offers. It assesses continuing students’ support needs by February before confirming capacity for new students. Families should ask when a decision is likely for their child. Its Singapore Citizen guidance states that an MOE waiver is required before offering a place to a citizen of Primary 1 age or above.

Boarding and scholarships

Residential boarding and scholarship applications

UWCSEA offers residential boarding at both campuses. The school has announced that from August 2027 it will no longer offer boarding for Grade 8, with boarding available from Grade 9 onwards. Resident houseparents, assistant houseparents, day staff and a boarding counsellor support boarders. The published house model includes cross-age house families and a separate orientation for new boarders.

The scholarship programme describes around 100 scholars joining the boarding community annually on full or partial awards. Selection and means assessment take place through UWC national committees. Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents apply through the UWC Singapore committee for IB Diploma opportunities across UWC schools; this does not guarantee a place at UWCSEA. Award coverage should be checked individually. The separate Financial Hardship Relief Programme offers short-term assistance to existing enrolled families.

Fees and the Tengah move

Fees and the planned Dover relocation

The official 2026–27 application fees are S$627 for a single-campus day application, S$1,254 for a dual-campus day application and S$841 for a boarding application, which covers both campuses. Application fees are non-refundable and payable per cycle. A one-off, non-refundable enrolment fee of S$4,992 is due on acceptance. The college’s 2026–27 schedule lists annual tuition of S$39,069 for K1–Grade 1, S$40,743 for Grades 2–5, S$46,866 for Grades 6–8, S$47,313 for Grades 9–10 and S$49,926 for Grades 11–12, plus a development levy of S$9,537 in the first year and S$5,166 in later years. Boarding for Grades 8–12 adds S$45,288 a year and a S$348 amenities fund. Confirm transport and other extras with the college.

The college has announced plans to relocate Dover to a new site in Tengah, with full relocation expected in August 2032. The cited project brief gives 2030 as the existing lease expiry, so ask how the intervening period and phased move will be handled. East in Tampines is not part of the planned relocation. Families considering several years at Dover should include the proposed move in their transport and housing plans, while checking the latest project timetable.
