What the school is

A British public-school idea, planted in Chile in 1928

Jackson drew on British public-school traditions, including fair play and service. The school belongs to HMC, the Latin American Heads Conference and the Association of British Schools in Chile. These are memberships, separate from inspection. Its history and traditions are context; inspection evidence is the better guide to current quality.

The 2023 report describes Lower Prep from Prekinder to 2° Básico, Upper Prep from 3° to 6° Básico and Senior School from 7° Básico to 4° EM. It recorded 2,146 pupils and more than 400 staff at that time.

The Grange combines Chilean education with British traditions and Cambridge qualifications. These features do not exclude an international family, nor do they guarantee integration. Compare its calendar, language demands and course sequence with the child’s previous schooling and likely next destination.

Findings from the August 2023 inspection

Penta International inspected the school on 21–23 August 2023 under the British Schools Overseas scheme, observing more than 100 lessons. The report found that the school met BSO standards, judged education good with excellent features and described behaviour as outstanding. The report’s three-year recognition period has passed as of this October 2026 review, so the 2023 judgement is no longer current.

The 2023 inspection recorded a substantial support team but noted that Senior School differentiation relied more on ability grouping than individual need. It also found inconsistent seat-belt use on the buses checked. These are 2023 findings, not a description of current conditions.

Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level entry fees are included in the stated tuition. The school does not publish recent results, candidate numbers or university destinations. Families considering Chilean universities should also discuss preparation for PAES and the subjects their intended courses require.

Admissions and cost

UF 270 tuition, inclusions and additional charges

The official 2026 tuition is UF 270 per pupil, payable in ten or eleven instalments; 4° EM has the ten-instalment option only. UF is indexed to inflation, so a fixed UF amount can change in pesos. The peso cost of each instalment depends on the UF value on the date it is converted.

The published inclusions cover exercise books, classroom materials, shared textbooks, daily lunch, educational platforms, institutional technology, most curricular activities, local outings and Cambridge IGCSE/A-Level entries. Exclusions include extended trips, The Gryphon magazine, the Parents’ Association fee, insurance, transport and after-school activities. The terms require outstanding balances to be settled before annual registration.

The 2026 fee page lists a one-time incorporation fee of UF 200 for new families, or UF 170 for families with a sibling already at the school, paid on acceptance of a place. An annual registration fee of UF 14 per pupil is charged from Prekinder to 4°EM, in addition to tuition.

The family experience

La Reina logistics and a rugby-school community

The campus is at Avenida Príncipe de Gales 6154 in La Reina. Journey times differ considerably from homes in La Reina, Las Condes, Vitacura, Peñalolén or elsewhere. Transport is separately charged and operated by external providers.
