What the school is

The school’s published governance describes a sponsoring educational foundation and a board of nine to thirteen members elected for three-year terms. It serves Chilean and internationally mobile families. Its inclusion in US government orientation material identifies a school families have used; it does not guarantee admission or suitability.

School materials state that nearly 85% of tuition supports hiring and retaining teachers and that incorporation fees support capital projects and the endowment. These spending descriptions do not themselves establish teaching quality. A school-submitted profile lists 1,440 students from 48 nations, average classes of 20 or 17 in IB, and a 1:7 staffing ratio. Figures differ between documents; request current year-group class sizes.

The calendar describes semesters from late July to December and mid-February to June, with a June–July break and southern-summer holidays between semesters. A calendar difference at another school does not automatically require repeating or skipping a term.

Curriculum, qualifications and language entry requirements

Nido offers American college-preparatory studies with US, Chilean and IB diploma options, each subject to its requirements. A school-submitted profile reports more than 60% of Grades 11–12 students taking the full IB Diploma and results above the world average, but a current dated results series was not publicly available.

The admissions policy sets English entry requirements for Upper Elementary, Middle and High School and describes separately charged language support. Ask how proficiency is assessed and what support is available for your child. Spanish is part of the programme from Kinder 2 to Grade 12; confirm how newcomers are placed and how the Chilean diploma requirements are met.

Contact admissions with the proposed grade, start date, school records and support needs. Older orientation guidance recommends allowing time for responses, but cannot predict the office’s current response time.

Admissions and cost

The UF 350 incorporation fee — and an aid process with a home visit

The 2026–27 incorporation-fee schedule lists UF 350 for entrants to K2 and above: UF 120 in year one, UF 120 in year two and UF 110 in year three. It states that remaining instalments are not owed after withdrawal before the later years, and students returning after paying in full do not repay. The peso amount depends on the contract’s UF conversion date; UF indexing does not protect a family from inflation or currency changes.

The terms allow annual, twice-yearly or ten-month tuition payments and describe an April fee review. EAL, Week Without Walls, the IB programme, transport and cafeteria are additional. The school’s 2026–27 fee sheet lists annual tuition of UF 285 for PK and K1, UF 512 for K2, UF 514 for Grades 1–5, UF 524 for Grades 6–8 and UF 531 for Grades 9–12. It adds a non-refundable annual registration fee of US$1,500 (PK–Grade 8) or US$1,900 (Grades 9–12) and a CLP 190,000 application fee. Request a quotation that includes all extras.

The financial-aid policy describes need-based awards up to 50% of tuition, with a reported average of 25%, and possible support for the incorporation fee. It requires financial records, an interview, a home visit and annual reapplication, and excludes families receiving an employer education subsidy. The reported average is not a forecast for an individual award.

The family experience

Foothills campus, northeast-corridor logistics

The Lo Barnechea campus is in northeastern Santiago near the Andean foothills. Compare journeys from specific homes in Lo Barnechea, Las Condes, Vitacura or elsewhere, including each parent’s workplace. Being in the same broad corridor does not guarantee a short commute.
