What the school is

History, governance and community

Lincoln traces its origins to 1936; the Buenos Aires Times describes predecessor schools that merged in 1952 and later became Asociación Escuelas Lincoln. It is a non-profit association recognised by the Buenos Aires provincial Ministry of Education. A 14-member Board of Governors, made up of parents and alumni, sets policy, oversees finances and evaluates the superintendent, Dr. Nada Collins. One non-voting member is appointed by the US Ambassador. The school publishes its financial statements up to July 31, 2025.

The State Department’s 2026 fact sheet lists 618 students: 32 in PreK, 211 in elementary, 171 in middle school and 204 in high school, from more than 40 nationalities. The largest groups are Argentine, American, South Korean, Spanish and Israeli. There are 177 faculty, 49 of them US-trained. Lincoln is accredited by NEASC.

Diploma requirements and transfer studies

Lincoln teaches a North American-style programme in English and follows Argentina’s provincial education law, so secondary students work toward both the school diploma and the Argentine Bachillerato. The IB Diploma is optional in Grades 11–12. The school reports that all students take IB courses and 88% are Diploma candidates. IB subjects include English and Spanish Literature, Spanish B and ab initio, History of the Americas, Economics, Global Politics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Visual Arts and Film.

Students joining Grades 8–12 from countries without an educational agreement with Argentina take Spanish-language “equivalency” studies, run by the Spanish Department. The Bachillerato is awarded only once these are complete. Students entering Grades 8–12 after a final year abroad need their transcript legalised by that country’s foreign ministry or apostilled, with a Spanish translation.

The 2026–27 calendar starts for all students on August 4, 2026; the first semester ends on December 18. The second semester starts on February 2, 2027, and classes end on June 16, 2027. Spring break is October 13–16 and Easter break March 22–26.

Admissions and cost

Dollar tuition, a US$12,000 capital charge, and the full-semester rule

Lincoln publishes its 2026–27 tuition in US dollars, shown below. It is billed monthly, in eight instalments, or paid annually or by semester. Payments made annually or by semester in dollars earn a 2% discount; pesos are accepted only for monthly payments, at the official exchange rate. An annual re-enrolment fee of US$3,060 (elementary), US$3,192 (middle) or US$3,532 (high school) is billed in August or on mid-year entry. IB exams, buses and cafeteria meals are billed separately, and late payments carry 14% annual interest.

New students in K5–Grade 12 pay a one-time US$12,000 Capital Assessment, half refunded if the child leaves during the first school year. Late enrolment or mid-semester withdrawal is charged as a full semester. Two eligible new children therefore need US$24,000 in Capital Assessments before tuition and re-enrolment fees. Invoices require an Argentine tax or identity number (CDI, CUIL, DNI or a company CUIT), and families sign the school’s Educational Contract before classes start.

The family experience

Riverside campus, northern-suburb logistics

The 9-hectare La Lucila campus overlooks the Río de la Plata. It has separate elementary, middle and high school buildings, a full-size gym, an auditorium and theatre, two libraries, science labs and maker spaces. Outside are a 27,000 m² sports field, tennis and basketball courts and a 25 m pool. The school helps maintain the neighbouring Vicente López ecological reserve. Regular buses are billed monthly or by semester in pesos, so families comparing Belgrano, Palermo or the northern suburbs should check the route and pickup time for each address.
