What the school is

Governance, debentures and campus transfers

JESS began with 17 pupils in an apartment near the Deira Clock Tower. It moved to Jumeirah after receiving a land grant. Companies that helped fund the school received corporate debentures, which remain part of its funding and admissions arrangements. A Board of Governors oversees the not-for-profit school.

Published guides distinguish personal and corporate debentures. The AED 20,000 personal debenture is described as refundable and does not provide waiting-list priority. Corporate debentures held by employers can provide priority and access to applications when a list is otherwise closed. Ask whether your employer holds one and which campus and conditions it covers.

The Good Schools Guide describes a Year 6 transition programme and transfer from Jumeirah primary to Arabian Ranches secondary without assessment. External applicants, particularly for Year 7, compete for the places left after internal transfers.

Academics in practice

Curriculum, results and inspection dates

JESS follows the English National Curriculum through I/GCSE in Year 11. Its sixth form offers the IB Diploma and IB Career-related Programme rather than A levels. Published reviews describe BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas in Art & Design, Business and Sport within the career-related route; subject combinations vary by intake.

For 2025, published reporting gives an IB Diploma cohort of 107, a 100% pass rate and an average of about 38 points. Two pupils achieved 45 points and 99% scored at least 30. The reported I/GCSE cohort comprised 186 pupils taking 1,573 examinations, with 77% of entries at grades 9–7. Compare several years and cohort sizes rather than treating these results as a prediction for one child.

Both campuses retained Outstanding ratings in 2023–24. Published inspection histories describe a long run of Outstanding judgements at Jumeirah and at Arabian Ranches, apart from a Very Good judgement in 2017–18. Read the date and findings of each report alongside current information on teaching and support; an inspection rating describes a particular review period.

An external school profile reports teacher turnover of around 6–7%; retention and teaching quality are different measures.

Admissions and cost

Applications, tuition and joining costs

JESS is described as non-selective, but admissions still involves age-appropriate observation or assessment and depends on capacity. Published accounts describe early-years play observations, sibling priority and restrictions on some waiting lists. Non-selective entry does not mean that every applicant can be admitted.

The cited schedules give annual tuition of AED 54,129 for FS1, AED 65,097 for FS2–Year 6, AED 91,923 for Years 7–11 and AED 104,544 for Years 12–13. The 2026–27 compilation repeats the 2025–26 figures. Add the AED 500 application fee and, where applicable, the AED 20,000 refundable personal debenture to the initial cash requirement. Obtain the school’s quotation for the offered campus and grade, including transport and other extras.

Published reporting records approved increases of 9% in primary and 3% in secondary for 2024–25. Not-for-profit status does not guarantee unchanged fees.

Jumeirah primary is in Al Safa; the all-through campus is in Arabian Ranches. Compare the journey to the campus offering your child a place, including bus stops and collection after activities. Families using Jumeirah primary should also consider the later move to Arabian Ranches for secondary school.
