What the school is

History, campus and accreditation

The school moved to Al Bustan Street in 1998. Its history records a donation of adjacent land in 2004, a new Middle/High School campus in 2007 and a campus improvement project completed in 2017. It has held NEASC accreditation since 1994. The reported capacity is around 2,250; vacancies and class sizes vary by grade.

AP and the IB Diploma under one roof

ASD offers AP courses and the IB Diploma alongside its American graduation pathway. Its 2018–19 high school profile listed 136 course options, including 16 AP courses and 44 IBDP courses; that historical snapshot shows the breadth of the programme rather than this year’s catalogue. Ask how prior credits transfer and what each qualification requires.

In a newspaper supplement, ASD reported 2024 AP figures of 95% scoring at least 3 and 73% scoring 4 or 5. It also reported a 100% IB Diploma pass rate and a 37-point average. The supplement did not give exam or candidate counts, or the denominator behind the AP percentages.

NEASC accreditation is part of ASD’s external quality evidence, alongside recent academic results and information about support provision. A British inspection framework is not the appropriate requirement for every curriculum.

Admissions and cost

Admissions and dated tuition and capital fees

The published application charge is QR 500 and is non-refundable; the school processes applications after payment. Ask admissions about availability, priority categories, assessment and offer deadlines for each child. The fee page bills company-sponsored pupils annually and individual payers by semester.

The cited 2025–26 schedule lists annual tuition of QR 36,570 in Pre-K, QR 60,982 in Kindergarten–Grade 5 and QR 79,305 in Grades 6–12. Annual capital fees add QR 10,950 in Pre-K or QR 14,600 from Kindergarten. Tuition plus capital therefore totals QR 47,520, QR 75,582 and QR 93,905 respectively, before other charges. New entrants also pay QR 500 application and QR 3,796 registration. The QR 2,000 re-enrolment deposit is credited against tuition. Other listed charges include QR 380 for graduating seniors, AP/IB examinations and QR 250 for laptops in Grades 5–12; device damage may incur a separate charge.

The cited payment policy permits exclusion from classes when fees are more than two weeks overdue. Mid-semester entrants pay the full semester’s capital fee. For withdrawal during the first ten school days of semester one, the policy charges 2% of semester tuition per day attended, up to 20%; it provides no tuition refund from day 11 and no capital-fee refund after attendance begins. Obtain the current written terms if your posting dates may change.
