What the school is

A parent-governed foundation with a UN founding story

NIST describes itself as not-for-profit, with a parent-elected foundation and fee income reinvested in operations and campus improvement. Parents elect representatives to the foundation; staffing and fee policy sit with the governing body rather than with individual families.

The cited sources describe CIS, NEASC and ONESQA credentials. These cover different accreditation and quality-assurance systems; they should not be treated as repeated satisfaction of one legal requirement. NIST also describes service learning aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. That alignment is distinct from its historical UN founding support.

NIST participates in the Global Citizen Diploma consortium. This credential records global-citizenship learning alongside the IB Diploma and NIST High School Diploma.

Academics in practice

Published results: three perfect scores and a 36.1 five-year average

NIST publishes its outcomes at cohort level. In 2025, 110 IB Diplomas were awarded from a cohort of 118; three students scored a perfect 45; 27% scored 40 or above against a worldwide average of 9%; and 62% graduated with a bilingual diploma. The five-year Diploma average stands at 36.1 points against a global 30.2.

The PYP, MYP and DP provide an IB pathway across the age range, though each stage has different demands. Ask how pupils are supported when moving between stages or joining from another curriculum. The cited fee notes describe EAL as included without an additional charge; other specialist support may be billed separately.

Read the results against the candidate numbers and years covered. A five-year average is not the same measure as a single graduating class’s average, and a graduating cohort may include pupils who did not attempt the full Diploma. The documented pathway is IB rather than A levels or AP.

Fees and the real cost

The THB 575,000 deposit choice — and how to run the maths

NIST’s 2025/26 tuition, as quoted by Thailand’s Board of Investment from the school’s schedule, runs from THB 628,200 in Early Years through THB 842,800 in Years 2–6 and THB 923,700 in Years 7–9 to THB 1,094,500 in Years 12–13. The 2026/27 figures from a fees aggregator run from THB 650,200 to THB 1,132,800 — confirm the current cycle with admissions before budgeting.

The one-time charges are a THB 6,000 application fee, a THB 2,500 non-refundable assessment fee and a THB 265,000 non-refundable registration fee. Then comes the choice that defines year one: a THB 575,000 refundable Campus Development Deposit — refunded within 45 days of withdrawal, less outstanding bills — or a THB 60,500 annual non-refundable Campus Development Fund payment.

The refundable deposit and annual payment cannot be compared using a simple nine-and-a-half-year break-even: the deposit is returned under its terms, while annual payments are spent. At an unchanged THB60,500 rate, three annual payments total THB181,500. The deposit route instead ties up THB575,000 until refund; financing costs, foregone returns, deductions and refund timing affect the comparison. Neither option is automatically better for a short or long posting. Keep the refundable amount separate from tuition and other spending, and ask whether switching between options is allowed.

Admissions

Assessment and year-group availability

The reported admissions process includes age-appropriate assessment in English and mathematics, with prior reports considered for MYP and DP applicants. Secondary guides describe pressure on Year 7 and Year 12 places; current availability is set by entry year and date.

For a mid-year move, ask whether a place is available and how the school would match prior learning, language needs and subject choices. Vacancies arise unpredictably, whatever the school’s nationality mix.

The family experience

Sukhumvit campus and daily journeys

NIST’s published campus description places its 25-rai site on Sukhumvit Soi 15. The 2025 building programme is reported to have added Innovation, Pavilion and Elementary buildings. Visit the facilities used by the relevant age group and assess access from prospective housing, including the walk from public transport and after-school arrangements.

Compare the central location with the facilities and activities the child would use. Ask where sports take place, whether travel is required and how pupils move through a typical day; a compact campus can still offer a full programme.
