Campus, community and school structure

The Khalifa City campus was inaugurated on 13 December 2011 by former US President Bill Clinton and Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan. Sources differ on the school’s founding year, giving 2007 or 2011. GAA is operated by GEMS Education. Published reporting also describes a former feeder relationship with GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi, which subsequently expanded its own secondary provision; confirm current transfer arrangements with the schools.

The cited profiles describe Emirati pupils as the largest nationality group within a community of more than 90 nationalities, and American as the largest teacher nationality. The school’s published leadership information names Keith Chicquen as Head of School for 2026–27. Whole-school nationality figures vary considerably from one class to the next.

Published campus facilities include a planetarium, a 500-seat auditorium, a 25-metre pool, a black-box theatre, a design hub and an outdoor learning area for kindergarten. Ask how often pupils in your child’s grade use these facilities, and which activities take place after school.

The school’s published 2024–25 ADEK summary rates Curriculum, Protection and Care, and Leadership and Management Outstanding. Students’ Achievement, Teaching and Assessment, and Personal Development are rated Very Good overall. The detail records Outstanding English and mathematics attainment in Grades 9–12, Outstanding kindergarten teaching and Outstanding social responsibility and innovation across phases.

The cited inspection analysis identifies concerns about attainment in several English-medium subjects. It reports that fewer than three-quarters of pupils in Phases 2–4 met expectations on MAP benchmarks and that TIMSS and PISA results fell below school targets. The same analysis describes gifted-and-talented provision as less developed than learning support, so both support and additional challenge are worth discussing for your child.

The reported 2025 IB Diploma average was 32 points, with one pupil scoring 45. Reporting states that 79% of the graduating class progressed directly to higher education. Approximately a quarter of seniors took at least one AP examination; the cited results give 57% of AP scores at 3 or above and 70% for AP Precalculus. Cohort sizes and full score distributions were not published alongside these figures.

Tuition, payment terms and additional charges

The ADEK-approved 2026–27 fee schedule published by the school lists annual tuition of AED 57,850 from Pre-K to KG2 and AED 80,610 for Grades 1–12, unchanged from 2025–26, with bus transport at AED 6,000–7,500. The cited fee guide describes payment across terms in shares of 40%, 30% and 30%. It lists loaned textbooks, supplementary books and materials as inclusions, along with internal teacher-led after-school activities from Grade 1. Uniforms, lunches, transport and AP or IB examination entries cost extra.

The cited fee guide describes a registration payment of 5% of annual tuition, credited to first-term fees, and an annual 5% re-enrolment payment. A credited payment should not be added again to annual tuition spending. The guide also mentions sibling concessions from the third child and a FAB payment-card offer; ask whether concessions can be combined.

When comparing GAA with another school, use the same grade and academic year and include the services your child needs. The AED 80,610 figure is tuition, not an all-inclusive cost; application, support, transport, meals, examinations and activities come on top.

Travel and school communication

The Khalifa City campus may suit different travel plans from schools on Abu Dhabi or Saadiyat islands. Bus stops, journey duration, supervision and collection after activities all affect the choice of housing, especially for families with children at different schools.
