What the school is

The embassy school: not-for-profit by decree

BSAK was established on land donated by Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and registered as a legal entity under Amiri Decree No. 5 of 1971. Its Board of Governors includes elected governors and appointees of the British Ambassador. The school moved to its Al Mushrif campus in 1980. The not-for-profit constitution provides for income to be reinvested in the school. BSAK also holds memberships of IAPS, HMC and BSME, organisations associated with British schools. Memberships and governance structure are distinct from inspection findings. Although general admissions are described as non-selective, families should confirm assessment, support capacity and sixth-form subject requirements.

Published profiles describe approximately 2,000 pupils from more than 50 nationalities, with British as the largest nationality group. They record Mark Leppard as headmaster from 2015, following his leadership of Doha College. Whole-school demographics say little about class sizes, staffing and pastoral arrangements in a particular phase.

Examination results and inspection findings

The reported 2025 GCSE cohort comprised 132 pupils taking 1,194 examinations. Of the grades, 23% were 9, 38% were 9–8, 54% were 9–7 and 96% were 4 or above. The dated 2023 A-level table records 124 pupils taking 352 examinations, with 45% of entries at A*–A and 70% at A*–B. The available school homepage headlines do not identify their examination year, so request the latest dated results for each qualification.

The school reported GCSE results more than 1.1 grades above its baseline predictions. Ask how that progress measure is calculated, which pupils it includes and whether the method is consistent across years. Non-selective admissions do not make raw grades a direct measure of teaching quality. BSAK also offers BTEC Level 3 alongside A levels.

Application timing and dated fees

The school’s published 2026–27 admissions notice describes applications being placed on waiting lists and Reception-to-Year-10 offers made as vacancies arise. It also says Nursery places had been offered and were waitlisted at that point. This is dated availability information, so contact admissions about the current position. Sixth-form applications can receive conditional offers, subject to the school’s requirements.

For 2027–28 entry, the published admissions schedule gives an October 2026 opening for Nursery applications and November 2026 for Reception and above. Ask about assessment, priority rules and whether an application carries forward if no place becomes available, and keep another suitable option open until an offer is confirmed.

The 2025–26 schedule lists annual tuition of AED 45,560 for FS1 core day, AED 51,410 for FS1 extended day and FS2, AED 55,520 for Years 1–6, AED 71,810 for Years 7–9 and AED 74,560 for Years 10–13. Textbooks and materials are included, while external examination entries are charged separately.

Al Mushrif, community and the daily reality

The campus is in Al Mushrif. Published facilities include the Ruby Building for younger pupils and a Science and Innovation Centre opened in 2023. Bus stops, school-run traffic and collection after activities shape the daily journey, especially for families with children at other schools.
